by Mike DaRoncoThe 1993 breakups of Gravy Train and Hour Slave resulted in the collaboration of guitarist/ vocalist Ted Stevens, drummer Boz Hicks, and bassist Oli Blaha. Going under the name of Polecat, the trio established their sound with an energy of harmonized pop that was complete with a lyrical emphasis on heartbreak. Within a year of playing around their native of Omaha, NE, -ismist Records released their first 7" EP, entitled 2500 Ft. of Our Love, in 1994. But after a handful of compilation tracks, Polecat broke up in 1996 with Ted Stevens moving on to form Lullaby for the Working Class.
