Simon Posford和Raja Ram在1997年合組Shpongle.Simon是Twisted Records的創(chuàng)辦者, 以Hallucinogen為名,推出一首又一首讓人無(wú)法自拔的Trance;Raja Ram是個(gè)吹笛的老先生,Shpongle里的經(jīng)典旋律都是他的杰作,他在1969年創(chuàng)立Quintessence樂團(tuán),以印度音樂融合爵士和前衛(wèi)搖滾,在當(dāng)時(shí)的全球Woodstock嬉皮風(fēng)潮中,應(yīng)該在英國(guó)獨(dú)樹一格吧.Shpongle是一個(gè)Trance音樂的組織,利用電子儀器混音合成并以人為出發(fā)點(diǎn)創(chuàng)造出一種新的Trance音樂風(fēng)格,很多人覺得他們的音樂是Psytrance,也有很多人覺得他們的音樂是Ambient...他們的音樂極富包容性,融合了西班牙語(yǔ),印度,中國(guó),非洲國(guó)家的味道;在電子合成器下加入了brazilian batucada beats, flamenco solo, piano solo等器樂以及一些處理過(guò)的人聲...他們的音樂風(fēng)格是十分多元化的,不能以一種風(fēng)格來(lái)定義.Ambient? Chill out? New Age? Trance? worldmusic?....Shpongle說(shuō):"你覺得它是什么音樂就是什么，由你決定"。
Simon Posford and Raja Ram are Shpongle, an ambient techno/trance project formed in 1996 after the pair viewed a solar eclipse in India. The two went into the studio and attempted to duplicate the experience in sonic form, and the result was a 20-minute track, "...And the Day Turned to Night," which was featured on a Twisted label compilation titled Eclipse. Shpongle's full-length debut album, Are You Shpongled?, was released in early 1999.
