Miranda Sex Garden,唯一一隊二十世紀(jì)最后十年才出現(xiàn)的卻翻玩1520年的文藝復(fù)興藝術(shù)的組合。最初似是唱些古色古香的情歌小調(diào)，接下來卻搖身一變?yōu)闀r髦的baroque'n'roll（ rock'n'roll的變種？）分子并活躍在一些氣氛熱烈且作風(fēng)前衛(wèi)的藝術(shù)俱樂部。
1991年她們在 Portobello街表演，讓在一旁隨樂搖擺的星探Barry Adamson挖去了。深為這隊有著“最純最清的人聲”的組合所感染，他邀請這三個二十出頭的女子—— Jocelyn West, Kelly McCuster和Katharine Blake——為他的一張名為Delusion的Soundtrack獻聲，她們唱了“Il Solitaro”。接下來輪到Daniel Miller對這三個Purcell音樂學(xué)校的畢業(yè)生表現(xiàn)出頗不小的興趣，兩月之后邀請她們加盟了Mute公司。

This creatively named band was formed when the members were studying vocal music together and started busking in the streets of London. Madra, their first album, is largely a capella, and composed entirely of traditional British songs. Their later releases — like 1993s Suspiria and 1994s Fairytales of Slavery — saw the group moving in a more rock/industrial direction, pitting their smooth voices upon layers of distortion, feedback, and heavy drums. Carnival of Souls was released in summer 2000.
