Kevin McCall (born July 25, 1985), better known as K-Mac, is an American singer, songwriter, producer, and rapper signed to Universal Music Group and CBE (Chris Brown Entertainment). He wrote on "Last Train to Paris", and was nominated with Chris Brown for Deuces on the 2011 Grammys.
Kevin Lamar McCall Jr. was born on July 25, 1985 in, LA Watts, California. He is the 2nd oldest out of 3 sisters and 1 brother. Kevin affectionately known to friends and family as “K-MAC” was introduced to music at a very young age by his family who noticed Kevin’s desire, talent and interest for music early on. Like many artist Kevin’s love of music stemmed from his time singing in the church choir.
While developing musically Kevin was also an exceptional athlete and excelled in both track and field and football. Torn by his undeniable musical talent yet the need to want to continue the tradition of all the McCall men before him Kevin put his music aside, and focused on completing High School and later attending Washington State University where he received a full football scholarship.
In 2007, Kevin graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Social Science and a Minor in Music and Ethnic Studies. Although Kevin taught himself to play piano, studying music in school allowed him to completely develop his skills as a songwriterand producer and artist.
Once back in Los Angeles, Kevin began networking and creating a buzz with his music as he saturated the web via Youtube, MySpace and Facebook. In his short time as a new songwriter and producer in the industry Kevin, has been fortunate to collaborate with both established and up and coming artist such as: Chris Brown, Keri Hilson, Trey Songz, Tank, Pleasure P, Keyshia Cole, Kelly Rowland,Mary J Blige, Letoya Luckett, Sean Garrett, Timbaland, Polow Da Don, and Swizz Beats to name a few.
As an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc, Kevin has created a name for himself on the college circuit from performances of his original songs and also songs he has written for his fraternity.
In 2009 Kevin jumped head first into the music industry by producing 10 tracks off Chris Brown's First Mixtape “In my Zone”. The mixtape included hits such as Big Booty Judy (Remix) by Kevin McCall feat. Chris Brown and Ludacris, Twitter, Too Freaky and Work wit it just to name a few.
In May 2010 Kevin was asked to produce tracks for another mixtape entitled Fan of Fan collaboration between Chris Brown and Tyga (Young Money). While many fans believe this mixtape could have easily been an album, Kevin was ecstatic with the success of the mixtape which includes a breakout hit Deuces by Chris Brown feat Tyga and Kevin McCall. Deuces has reached #14 the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on R&B/Hip-Hop chart, even landing the collaborators a Grammy nomination in 2011.
On February 2011, Kevin release his first mixtape titled “Un-Invited Guest” the music was widely excepted by his fans and displayed Kevin’s effortless transition from producer to rapper.
July 2011, Kevin released his follow up mixtape “The EargaZm” which is straight R and B and true to its name.
Kevin’s talents include: songwriting, composing, producing, vocal arrangements, playing piano, rapping and singing.
