Laurel Collective are an experimental pop outfit from London. Having signed with the Domino Records offshoot, Double Six, in their infancy (now signed to Tape Club Records), the band have since gone on to mesmerize audiences on both sides of the Atlantic with their bedazzling repertoire of off-kilter hits.
Their early recordings garnered attention from the likes of Huw Stephens, XFM's John Kennedy and Steve Lamacq (Single of the Week on BBC Radio 1), leading to a packed festival season (including a BBC Introducing slot at Glastonbury). Since then, they have been invited to play at SXSW as well as securing performances at The Great Escape, Lovebox, Blissfields and support slots with the likes of Maccabees, NYPC, The Villagers and The View in the UK.
In addition to performing, writing and recording, the band have spent time immersing themselves in the music of their associates. They continue to host a now-famous secret festival in a remotely-located forest (called In the Woods), which has featured the likes of Micachu and the Shapes, The Invisible, Pete and the Pirates, as well as rising star Anna Calvi on the bill. They also hosted a regular night called 'Hindenburg Mile-High Club' for a short time in London.
More recently, the band won the prestigious Red Stripe Music Prize (2010), have performed a live session for BBC 6 Music and have continued to grow in notoriety on the live circuit, playing nights for John Kennedy (XFM), Moshi Moshi and Tape Club Records.
This year will see the release of their long-awaited first album. The band have been busy writing and recording for the past 18 months and promise to deliver an incredible debut.
