The music of Rageous Gratoons where born at the confluence of the Gange and Garonne rivers, where black sea and Mediterranean sands mix up. The place is hard to pin out, since it is only known by musical globetrotters. For the last 15 years, this wandering collective has set its base camp in the Bordeaux area, while touring upon encounters, with only one desire: charing. Should we try to fit them into a category? Some have tried before, but never succeeded. The Rageous are untypical ant they stand for that untypicalness! After a enthousiastic live album in 2007 (In Concierto Live), as a result of two years touring marathon all over the world, the band is coming back this fall with a new studio album : Everywhere is Garbage, a strong tasting result of their numerous experiences.
As usual - and it's become a rule among these guys - their political involvement is skin sensible: the world is going bad and we have to talk about it! Stamped ?Post nuclear music and flea market stylish? since a long time, the band has once again chosen an evocative design for their album cover (after a torned up teddy bear in the middle of a dump - Petit Ane - and nuclear test in full nature - Risipit Totul-), they're now setting up goats only having a pile of old tires for a play and lifeground. Once again, a new album with no plastic in the packaging, far from commercial and marketing musts, it proves that their environmental engagement is not a new trend! The album is, once more, in great part self produce: proud of this musical and graphic freedom, the group uses a musical blend that leads both the listener to dance and melancoly. It's their small business, their stew, and as for the music, they choose the ingredients. It is them who set the quantities, cut, mix and cook. The six musicians with different horizons like to confront their influences and ideas, open doors and windows, take off without knowing exactly where the wind shall lead them.
Trad' music, electrofolk loops, Balkans rythms, chimeras from Rajasthan or mediteranean riffs! With Everywhere is garbage, their new album, the Rageous Gratoons take us to a roller coster ride on their heterogeneous instruments, for an hour long ride from which we don't come back exactly the same... The Gratoons never do things half way! Their new album comes with a documentary DVD, wonderfully directed by Le Ratelier, a Bordeaux collective of video artits, designers, set designers and artists, specialised in animation films. Here is a eigtht minutes condense of the last 10 years of the Rageous, an atypical and boiling band. From Montreal to Prague, going through Tunisia, truck wrecks and rock'n roll end of nights, from smiles to outlaughters, nothing is expected. Everything is done to make us dive into the libertarian and generous state of mind of the Rageous Gratoons
