Blake Mundell

Blake Mundell's contemplative musings flow from a deep admiration of words and human experience--and the stories they mutually comprise. His love of language comes across in his journeying sense of lyric, delivered upon melodies that seem more akin to conversation than to song.
He spent his childhood atop the great plains of southeast Colorado--playing baseball, building treehouses, learning piano, branding cattle, and riding his bike everywhere. His interests in writing music developed in the 7th grade, at which point he began using his father's amatuer basement studio to record at least one full album every year.
In 2007, Blake moved to Nashville to begin schooling as a songwriting major at Belmont University (yes, that is indeed a REAL major). Under the tutelage of many local veterans like Thom Schuyler, Tom Douglas, and James Elliot, he began making his first ripples in the industry, earning a variety of showcases and writer's rounds throughout the music scene. Today he's playing more rounds than ever and is making his first professional studio album, thanks to a partnership with Kickstarter, his local producers, and especially his fans.
While undergoing any creative endeavor, Blake's highest hope is to affect others in the same way others have a tendency to affect him--towards the pursuit of truth, and the search after what connects us all as humans. Blake seeks out the blank parts of the map and urges his listeners to follow.
