Gil Talmi is a world-renowned Emmy nominated composer with a focus on socially conscious films. Gil's music can be heard in a variety of award winning films and TV programs worldwide, from productions for Warner Brothers, Paramount and Fox to pro bono collaborations with The International Rescue Committee and StoryCorps.
Gil has scored the Peabody Award winning aries BETWEEN THE FOLDS [Greenfuse Films/ ITVS] and WHO KILLED CHEA VICHEA [PBS] as well as NEW YEAR BABY (Broken English Prods/ITVS), winner of the Amnesty International 'Movies That Matter' Award.
Gil's most recent feature work includes music for SAVANNAH [Independent], directed by Annette Haywood-Carter starring James Caviezel, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sam Shepard, ENTRE NOS [IndiePix Studios], written and directed by Paola Mendoza and Gloria LaMorte, winner Best Film at the Traverse City film festival and DAVID [Independent], directed by Joel Fendelman.
Furthermore, Gil has written music for the aries BILL W. [Page 124 Productions], FORGOTTEN ELLIS ISLAND [PBS], DAISY BATES: FIRST LADY OF LITTLE ROCK [PBS].
Gil was nominated for a National News and ary Emmy Award for his work on CBS Evening News and recently won Best ary Score of 2012 for his score for TALES OF THE WARIA [PBS].
A gifted composer, Talmi's music reflects a wide spectrum of influences. Gil studied film composition at UCLA with Ian Krouse and the late David Raksin. He also furthered his passion for world music at UCLA’s esteemed Ethnomusicology department. Blending his traditional orchestral background with eclectic world music sensibilities Talmi has created a signature sound that can be heard in many award winning productions worldwide.
Talmi’s 1700 square foot scoring facility with inspiring views of Manhattan is located inside the Brooklyn Navy Yard (a stone’s throw away from Steiner Studios). The studio’s unique location, ambiance, and state of the art equipment work together to complement the innovative, high quality scores that Talmi creates for studio and indie films alike.
