Pete Rock

Pete Rock第一次出現(xiàn)在音樂圈是80年代晚期在紐約的電臺WBLS 的節(jié)目"In Control with Marley Marl," 當(dāng)DJ。當(dāng)時節(jié)目都是在星期五還有星期六晚上播出。基于對于音樂的喜愛，pete想要精進(jìn)自己的音樂功力，所以在90年代初期，Pete開始制作音樂(producing)。因?yàn)镻ete是以DJ還有制作人的身分來制作音樂，所以他找了他的好朋友CL Smooth 來rap。從此之后這對拍檔開創(chuàng)了Hip Hop音樂的歷史。
91年發(fā)行EP All Souled Out ，92 年發(fā)行了Mecca & The Soul Brother 這張專輯有著兩首HipHop經(jīng)典名曲 They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" 跟 "Straighten It Out."有人如此評論這張專輯：在這80分鐘里面，你完全不會想要跳到下一首歌。甚至還有人在葬禮中放這首歌，只因?yàn)樗娴耐昝赖莱隽巳藗冏窇浀男那椤?4年Main Ingredient這張專輯發(fā)行之后，他們兩個人打算獨(dú)自發(fā)展自己的音樂生涯。Pete Rock接著在Loud/RCA 這個廠牌發(fā)行了他的首張個人專輯Soul Survivor ， 在2001年他又與Rapster/BBE 這個廠牌合作，出了PeteStrumentals. 這張專輯。兩年之后又發(fā)行了Lost and Found 。04年他推出了Soul Survivor II, 這張專輯這也是和一堆好歌手合作的專輯Pharoahe Monch, Dead Prez, Talib Kweli, 當(dāng)然還有他的老拍檔 C.L. Smooth.
Rapper, DJ, and producer Pete Rock first emerged in 1991 as one half of a duo with C.L. Smooth, debuting with the All Souled Out EP. A hit LP, Mecca and the Soul Brother, followed before the two went their separate ways in the wake of 1994's The Main Ingredient, with Rock remaining a prolific studio presence prior to the release of his solo debut, Soul Survivor, on Loud/RCA four years later. Dropped from the label, he continued his career as an independent producer, and later signed to Rapster/BBE in 2001 for PeteStrumentals. Two years later, the label released a two-part compilation of mid-'90s LPs with Lost and Found. In 2004, Rock produced the sequel to his debut, Soul Survivor II, with features coming from Pharoahe Monch, Dead Prez, Talib Kweli, and former partner C.L. Smooth. During the next few years, Rock focused on producing for other artists, including Edo G and Ghostface Killah, releasing his next solo album, NY's Finest, in early 2008.
