Artist statement
I create paintings that tell a story of life assembly. In my studio, life's oscillating roles and competing desires create fertile ground. I enjoy observing how painting mirrors life by relying on the ability to make choices while remaining open to chance. My increasing use of collage allows me to visualize life's uneven, rich landscape. While I am overwhelmed by the volume of accumulated imagery, I revel in sorting and re-assembling to locate a sense of possibility and pleasure in the chaos.
Bio
Margie's first artistic chapter was entirely devoted to plein air watercolor painting instilling an affinity for color and framed observation. In 2002 she detoured to make art the focal point, take a break from a time consuming career and venture into the studio. Not surprisingly this shifted her view from the great outdoors to a more personal narrative of identity. Margie completed her MFA at The Art Institute of Boston's low-residency program in 2006. Margie resides in Providence and works as a consultant.
