《Royal as purple》是由香港/舊金山音樂制作人Melvin Wong發(fā)起的原創(chuàng)音樂項(xiàng)目，簽約于剛剛成立的《Stay Gold Records》廠牌，在2018年中發(fā)布了一支單曲和MV音樂視頻，預(yù)計(jì)將在2019年夏天發(fā)行正式專輯。

這個(gè)項(xiàng)目從創(chuàng)作、編曲、錄音、制作，到最終的現(xiàn)場(chǎng)呈現(xiàn)，都由他獨(dú)自完成。屬于國(guó)內(nèi)少見的“制作人項(xiàng)目”（Producer album）。

《Royal as purple》的最初靈感始于2015年，當(dāng)時(shí)Melvin決定將他的創(chuàng)作地點(diǎn)遷回亞洲。他希望這個(gè)音樂項(xiàng)目能更多的以“樂隊(duì)演奏”為導(dǎo)向，所以風(fēng)格會(huì)更加傾向搖滾樂的表達(dá)，但同時(shí)也融合了許多別的音樂元素，比如Electropop（電子流行）Soul RnB 以及 psychedelic pop（迷幻流行）。

現(xiàn)場(chǎng)演出時(shí)Melvin通常會(huì)以吉他、貝斯、架子鼓為核心，根據(jù)現(xiàn)場(chǎng)的氛圍，加入合成器/采樣回放/現(xiàn)場(chǎng)裝置等現(xiàn)代元素。最終呈現(xiàn)出一種獨(dú)具一幟的現(xiàn)代色彩感。

Royal As Purple is a music project conceived by Hong Kong/San Francisco music producer Melvin Wong, who produces, writes, records, and performs the music.

The project idea started when Melvin decided to shift his base back in Asia in 2015. He wanted this project to be more “band performing” oriented music, so the genre is more towards rock but also with the influences of other genres such as Electropop, Soul RnB, and psychedelic pop. As performing act, Melvin usually plays alongside with a drummer and bassist, sometimes with a keyboard player for Royal As Purple live sets.

Signed with newly formed Stay Gold Records. Royal As Purple released a single and music video mid 2018 and is expected to release a full length album by the summer of 2019.
