１９５８年８月９日、福島県生まれ。 
兵庫県立加古川西高校卒業(yè)後、音響ハウスに入社。 
８０年までハウスエンジニアをつとめ、清水靖晃らのグループ、マライアとの仕事を期に獨立。 
フリーのエンジニアとして、マライアを始めとして、坂本龍一、渡辺香津美、吉田美奈子、ムーンライダーズ、 
などのレコーデイング／ミックスを手掛ける。 
 
１９８４年、ビクターからソロアルバム「ＳＥＩＧＥＮ」を発表する。 
清水靖晃、笹路正徳らマライアの面々を始め、白井良明、中西俊博ら 
彼と関係の深いミュージシャンたちとのコラボレーションにより成り立っているこのアルバムは 
同社のミュージックインテリアシリーズの第一弾として発表されました。 
（以降、橋本一子「ｉｃｈｉｋｏ」、佐久間正英「ＬＩＳＡ」などが発表され、それらのレコーディング 
＆ミキシングなども彼が擔當しております） 
 
佐久間正英との出會いにより、共同で南青山にｖ．ｆ．ｖ．スタジオを設立。 
 
エンジニアとして、國外では近藤等則、坂本龍一らとの活動を期にラウンド?リザ－ズ、ビルラズウエル、 
ジョン?ゾーン、アート?リンゼイ、フレッド?フリス、らのＮＹのミュージシャンのプロジェクトに參加したのを 
始め、デヴィッド?シルヴィアンやキングクリムゾンらのアルバムにも名を連ねている。 
國內では佐久間正英がプロデュースしたＢＯＯＷＹからＧＬＡＹに至る多くのアーテイストを始め、 
仙波清彥のはにわ関係、ムーンライダーズの岡田徹の一連のソロ作品などにも関わっている 
 
１９９９年現(xiàn)在、最近の仕事としては久々の元マライアの笹路正徳との仕事であるパフィ－のアルバムや 
ヒートウエーブのアルバムなどがある。 
 
又、外國から來る有名アーテイストを含め、レコーデイングだけでなくライブＰＡをこなしている、 
 
 
音楽家としても８８の春夏から８８から８９秋冬までのコム?デ?ギャルソンの 
ファッション?ショウの音楽を擔當、その音楽は８９年徳間ジャパンより２枚アルバムに 
まとめられている。（現(xiàn)在はサイデラレコードより２枚組にて復刻されている） 
 
英國のヴァージンレコードと日本人として初めてアーテイスト契約を結び、 
１９８８年セカンドアルバム「ザ グリーン チャイニーズ テーブル」 
１９８９年にはシングル「モニカ?トルネラ?ドミニカ?セーラ」 
１９８９年、アルバム「コムデギャルソン ＶＯＬ．１」「ＶＯＬ．２」発表 
 
 
また、８９年には自己レーベル「サイデラ?レコード」を設立し、 
９０年は徳間より「ネコノトピア?ネコノマニア」、 
９１年はキテイより「フォーテイ?デイズ?アンド?フォーテイ?ナイツ」 
２枚のサントラアルバムをメジャーとディストビュー契約を結び、発売。 
 
インディ－流通をスタートさせ、 
「ＢＡＲ ＤＥＬ ＭＡＴＴＡＴＯＮＯ」（４７人のミュージシャンによるモンタージュオブジェ） 
「ＭＯＮＴＲＥＵＸ ９３／９４」（スイスモントルージャズフェステイバルに出場した際の録音） 
と２枚のアルバムを９４年に発表。 
 
９７年、３枚組アルバム「ＬＡ ＭＯＶＩＤＡ」を発表。 
このアルバムには彼自身が音楽監(jiān)督をしたミュージカル「ＤＯＲＡ」のための音楽、 
南イタリアで行われたタイムゾーンズフェステイバル、フィンランドのポリ?ジャズ?フェステイバル 
ドイツ、ライプチヒでのフェステイバルに出演したときのライブ録音、 
ＮＨＫドラマ「熱の島で」に提供した音楽等が収録されています 
 
そして、９９年１１月２０日ニューアルバム「ＷＨＯ ＩＳ ＳＨＥ？ＭＥ？」が発売??！ 
９９年１０月より１２月、フジテレビ系で放映されたテレビドラマ「砂の上の戀人たち」 
の音楽を彼が擔當し、そのドラマのために書き下ろされた新曲とドラマ中に使用される 
既発表曲５曲の計１２曲収録されています。 
 
ミュージシャンとしてはギター、キーボードなどもこなす彼ですが、 
変則チューニングのチャランゴを愛好し、彼のアルバム以外でも 
岡田徹、遠藤ミチロウ、ｄｉｐ ｉｎ ｔｈｅ ｐｏｏｌ等のアルバムでも彼のプレイを聞くことが出來ます。 
アート?リンゼイのライブなどでは共演しております。 
 
プロデューサーとしてはｄｉｐ ｉｎ ｔｈｅ ｐｏｏｌの初期やｍａｒ－ｐａの２枚、 
遠藤ミチロウ「空は銀鼠」、くじら「たまご」（清水靖晃と共同） 
溝口肇「Ｂｅｓｔ Ｗｉｓｈｅｓ」（溝口肇と共同）などがあります。

Seigen Ono is a composer, architectural acoustics designer, recording and mastering engineer (DSD, surround with height). During his 30 year career, he has worked as engineer for many project with renowned artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto (Merry Christmas Mr.Lawrence/1983), Sadao Watanabe, Manhattan Transfer, Joe Jackson, The Lounge Lizards, Arto Lindsay, John Zorn, and David Sylvian. more details below.
As a musician, he schedule to perform solo at Chalet d'en bas (new venue) on July 5th, 2013, at 47th Montreux Jazz Festival for his 4th time appearance.
 
As an architectural acoustics designer, he was recently responsible for "silent spins" with Sakamoto Ryuichi and Shiro Takatani, which was presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo in 2012 and the Sharjah Art Foundation in 2013 as below.

Art & Music - Serch for New Synesthesia at Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo starts October 27th, 2012
 
 In May, I visited Ryuichi Sakamoto at KAB America Studio to introduce him to the acoustic absorption/isolation material, ‘AURAL SONIC’. It was then that we started talking about our discussions back in the early ’80s about how British sound was inspired by reflections and reverberations of cathedrals, concert halls, and other places with stone floors.　We also discussed about how if reflections became inaudible, we would not be able to judge the size of a room by using only our ears. In other words, getting rid of existing walls was another way to re-create infinite aural space. From there our concept of the aural tea room was conceived. We designed a space called ‘silence spins’ where I used two types of new unprecedented, powerful, acoustic absorption/isolation materials: for the exterior wall I used ‘SHIZUKA STILLNESS PANEL ”, which is sufficient enough to create a simple anechoic chamber while shutting out all exterior sound. And for the interior wall I used ‘AURAL SONIC,’ which helps eliminate early-reflections from walls, making them seem as if they were not there. According to its inventor, ‘AURAL SONIC’ converts sound (is a compression waves = longitudinal waves) into ‘transverse waves’ and this causes a slight group delay, particularly in the higher ranges. It makes you feel larger space. Simply by setting foot inside the tea-room, the silence of the space makes us unconsciously relax our ears and brain. By concentrating on vastly reduced reflected sound like the sound of our own breathing or other subtle noises that we make, we are able to experience a sensation similar to Zen-like meditation.

Seigen Ono has starts as an assistant at ONKIO-HAUS (Tokyo) 1978, then freelance since 1980. Seigen Ono has worked with a wide range of musical talent including Ryuichi Sakamoto (Merry Christmas Mr.Lawrence/1983), Sadao Watanabe (Parker's Mood/1985, Elis/1988, etc.), Manhattan Transfer (Vocalies live1986), Joe Jackson (Live 1980/86/1988), The Lounge Lizards (Big Heart/1986, No Pain for Cakes/1987), Arto Lindsay, John Zorn (Spillan/1987), King Crimson (Live in Japan, Three of a Perfect Pair/1983), Golden Palominos (Visions of Excess/1985) and David Sylvian (Weatherbox 1989). Naked City (torture garden/1991), Jaco Pastorius (Holiday for Pans/1993), Oscar Peterson (The quintet live featuring Joe Pass/1986), Steps Ahead (live/1987), Kazumi Watanabe (mobo splash 1985, etc.) 
 
1991, Audio Supervisor for HDVS, SONY CORP (the first demo for Sony HD-TV demo) Remixed “FESTIVAL DE JAZZ MONTREUX” including Miles Davis with Gil Evans orchestra conducted by Quincy Jones. Gal Costa, Le Mystrere des voix Bulgares, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Deee Lite with Bootsy Collins, Elvis Costello and Rude five, The B.B. King Blues Band, Dianne, Reeves, Ray Charles, Chaka Khan, George Benson and Count Basie Orchestra, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Stanly Clarke, Omar Hakim, David Sanborn, Henri Salvador, 
Touring as PA engineer with Golden Palominos, Toshinori Kondo, Sadao Watanabe, etc.
 
As the audio supervisor, demonstrator for Pro-Audio such DSD technology and mixing with surround height. Also for Sony's HDVS in 1991 and an endorser of Sony SONOMA DSD Audio Workstation and the reverberator Sony DRE S777 Sampling Digital Reverb for the last 13years, Seigen is a strong advocate for high resolution audio (DSD). He has been involved in R&D for the high end pro technologies of digital audio equipments developed by Sony, KORG and Yamaha. So he knows the most advanced auditory technology.

He has released a number of Super Audio CD albums including “Olive Tree for Peace", “Maria and Maria", “COMME des GARCONS SEIGEN ONO", "CDG Vol.1", "CDG Vol.2” and “Bar del Mattatoio", "Dragonfish Live/Seigen Ono Quintet", etc. He has performed at a number of European jazz festivals including the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival (1993, 1994 and 2008). Mr. Ono has also worked for various theater and dance companies including Jean-Christophe Maillot (Les Ballets de Monte Carlo) and Philippe Decouffle (DCA), was the director and composer for “Le petit ballets des Rolly” (2008, Swiss).The project 2008: Le petit ballets des Rolly
