Biography
by Andrew Leahey
Arrica Rose's compositions are laced with subtle, gentle vocals and contributions from a lo-fi backing band known as "the ...'s" (or "the Dot Dot Dots"). As a child, Rose listened to the sounds of Frank Sinatra's New York, New York and immersed herself in mystery novels. She received her first guitar at the age of 15 and honed her musical skills with Uxby, an adolescent California-based band that managed to score shows alongside Hoobastank, Jimmy Eat World, and Commander Venus. Following her high-school graduation, she decamped to USC to study film; she also found time to further her songwriting efforts, releasing a home-recorded EP named Tone Bank before enrolling in sound design classes. Rose then assembled a full band to record ...Auto-Pilot, an EP she produced herself, before enlisting the help of co-producer Larry Crane for the full-length album People Like Us. Last Night on Earth followed in 2007, winning the band support from several college radio stations, while the digital release of La-La Lost marked her second full-length effort in April 2008.
