As I Lay Dying 是圣地亞哥的一支Metalcore樂隊(duì),樂隊(duì)于2001年由主唱 Tim Lambesis ,鼓手 Jordan Mancino 和吉他 Evan White 組成,不久就發(fā)行了 Beneath the Encasing of Ashes ,第2年又發(fā)行了 Beneath the Encasing of Ashes .到了2003年,樂隊(duì)在 Metal Blade 發(fā)行了第1張專輯 Frail Words Collapse 后吉他 Evan White 離開了樂隊(duì),之后加入了2個(gè)吉他手?Phil Sgrosso , Nick Hipa 和貝司手 Clint Norris .新陣容在2005年錄制發(fā)行了新專輯 Shadows Are Security . 如果說歐陸金屬樂是一種病毒的話，那么北美的金屬生力軍們，大多數(shù)都早已被這種美好的病毒“感染”了。而《Shadows Are Security》也“難逃此劫”，或許這一切都要?dú)w功（或者歸咎）于樂隊(duì)的成員們，因?yàn)樗麄兌际荢oilwork、Inflames和The Haunted等樂隊(duì)的鐵桿歌迷。?2007年，As I Lay Dying的第四張專輯，《An Ocean Between Us》，在Billboard 200專輯榜排名第八，在Top Rock排行榜排名第一。同時(shí)在Wacken Open Air, With Full Force, Soundwave Festival, Sounds of the Underground, Warped Tour, 以及 Taste of Chaos多個(gè)音樂節(jié)演出。同時(shí)在2007年，樂隊(duì)在首次MTV2的"All That Rocks"頒獎(jiǎng)典禮上獲得了"Ultimate Metal God(終極金屬之神)"的獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)，并以歌曲"Nothing Left"獲得格萊美獎(jiǎng)的提名。于2008年，在圣地亞哥音樂節(jié)被評(píng)為年度藝人。接下來的三年過程中樂隊(duì)編寫并錄制最新專輯，《The Powerless Rise》，并于2010年5月發(fā)布。
