關(guān)于 The Townhouses "Reminding one of Icelandic group Mum and sounding like an extremely slow (Like on rhino tranquilizers), ambient take on Neon Indian in places, Townhouses’ (aka Leigh Hannah for this release) release is charmingly out of step with the rougher, rawer, more intellectual approach to ambient music that is more prevalent lately." - The Band Next Door.
"No vocals here, only a myriad of instruments and samples run through all kinds of filtering processes that have combined to produce a beautifully soaring, dream-wave bliss. Groups like Quantic, Four Tet or Bonobo come to mind, but I'd say their sound is closer to Seekae... without being overly electronic. But then again, people always try to do this with new groups. What I will say though is The Townhouses are definitely worth the space on your hard drive. Even if you don't like the genre, put in on when you go to sleep. Or wake up. Or want to relax. Or just want to listen to damn fine music because that is all this really is - tight production resulting in an enticing yet experimental sound." - Groove City.
"There is no doubt whatsoever, however, that these chill electro-orchestral tunes flipped my wig." - Les Enfants Terribles.
"If your music was a person it would be one of those handsome loner guys at a coffee shop, that is working on a thesis or writing a play. Everyone wants to know him you know?" - Panda Steps in Chocolate.

Melbourne based artist, The Townhouses (Leigh Hannah), has finally finished his debut album (grammatical awkwardness intended). In the winter/spring of 2009, the Townhouses released four ambient/instrumental EPs, with the third (The Lost Kagu) released through Perth based label Owls Records. ‘Islands’, the Townhouses’ debut album, is derived from some 60-something demos and is largely the result of Leigh’s interest in ethnomusicology. The Townhouses are more recently largely influenced by gamelan, African, electronic, experimental and ambient music – resulting in a collage of different tonalities and polyphonic textures, balanced out by lyric-less lo-fi vocals. Leigh records everything on mostly borrowed, cheap equipment in his shed based in semi-rural Victoria. On special occasions he is joined live by Tania Timotic and Alex O’Gorman.
